So how many platforms does Maruti have?

Automotive reporting carried out by the daily newspapers seems to be more absurd by the day. Most of our reporting is based on " Getting a byte from some leaders & 39; and then & 39; weaving around a great history ". There is very little research, no understanding of the functioning of the industry and simply no respect for the facts. One of the leading business daily newspaper reports today of Maruti-Suzuki SX4 insertion of a limousine. Nothing wrong, and the piece seems to be well written, until I reach the following paragraph:
" MUL has also in its fourth platform with the introduction of the 1.6-liter sedan SX4, against the city Honda, Hyundai Verna, Optra & 39; General Motors and Ford Escort& 39;s engine & 39; s. This platform is the basis for all of New MUL & 39; larger cars.
WTF "? If this is not the SX4 Maruti fifth platform? And Ford Escort? It died over a decade. A tired, overworked or a writer too lazy to facts?
It gets better further down the story. The writer further claims:
" MUL currently has three platforms. One is used to produce the M-800 and SWIFT. The appreciation is a product from the second platform, and the Alto, WagonR and Zen Estilo, in the third. "
Manufacturing of micro-size 800 (early 80s vintage) and the sub-compact size Swift (approx. 2005) from the same platform is quite an engineering feat for a writer!
The case appears to be an offer of Maruti & 39; s MD, Jagdish Khattar, is lost in translation. What he said:
" All future models will be on the basis of our three existing platforms ", as the Alto platform, the platform Swift and SX4 platform. The 800 platform and the appreciation Versa platform are old and die their natural death.
Yet another business daily reported:
" The new SX4 sedan is the third platform in the stable of Maruti, with a car as Alt and Zen Estillo and WagonR, and another for Swift. "
Ummm you missed the other models.
